Brief: Raise awareness of the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) among the local community and position the care home provider as the leading specialist in the provision dementia care through the development of a specialist 1940’s themed reminiscence room, at Coombe End Court in Wiltshire.
How? Our effective PR campaign targeted national press to raise awareness of the home’s work in creating the reminiscence room, which is designed to comfort residents with advanced dementia, whose symptoms include loss of recent memory, distress and anxiety.
Results: 25 items of coverage including coverage in The Sun, Daily Mail, London Metro, Daily Express, Scottish Express and Best magazine, as well as a radio interview on BBC London and 18 online pieces.
As a result of the coverage the home was nominated in two categories for the British Journal of Nursing awards, where home manager Sue Linsley was presented with the gold award for Care and received a silver award for Neuroscience Nursing. This was also the first year the care sector has been included in the awards.
